Hyundai Motor Group shows newly developed automatic charging robot for EVs

Green Car Congress

Hyundai Motor Group has developed an automatic charging robot (ACR) for electric vehicles (EV). The ACR for EVs is a one-arm robot capable of plugging a cable into an EV’s charging port and removing it again once charging is complete. The ACR will help to make EV-charging easier and more convenient, especially in dark environments. It will also improve accessibility, particularly for people with mobility barriers, as charging cables become thicker and heavier to enable high-speed charging.

Emissions Analytics argues that current Pareto-efficient solution for decarbonization would be hybrids, not BEVs, based on do-no-harm

Green Car Congress

Based on comparison tests between a Tesla Model Y and Kia Niro full hybrid, independent emissions testing company Emissions Analytics ( earlier post ) is suggesting that at present full hybrids are the win-win, do-no-harm option for decarbonizing transportation, while BEVs are a win-lose option, hampered by a “vexatious” trade-off between CO 2 reductions and increased in-use vehicle emissions—specifically from tire wear particles as well as off-gased VOCs from the tires.

Why Mexico builds many US-bound EVs but buys few of them

Green Car Reports

Mexico will soon build large numbers of EVs, but most will go north to the U.S. rather than being sold domestically. The reason behind it isn't a culture clash or a lack of concern for the environment. It's a matter of economics and practicality. EVs remain too expensive for most Mexicans, and lack of charging infrastructure makes them less.
