Fiat shows 600e and tiny Topolino for Europe, 500e EV still US-bound

Fiat on Wednesday revealed two more EVs—one smaller, and one larger, than the reborn 500e the automaker has confirmed for U.S. sales starting in early 2024. The Fiat 600e is a small crossover with a name that references the classic Fiat 600 of the 1950s. The five-door 600e is presented as a more practical alternative to the three-door 500e.

Sardinia orders 98 more Solaris electric buses

Consip S.p.A. Roma, the central purchasing agency in Italy, has placed an order for 98 Solaris electric buses. Among them, 80 are Urbino 12 electric models, and 18 are articulated buses. The vehicles will be delivered to CTM Cagliari, the company managing urban transport in the capital of Sardinia, in 2024 and 2025. Solaris vehicles have been serving traffic in Cagliari since 2010, including trolleybuses.

New Mexico to enact advanced Clean Car & Clean Truck rules

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that the state will move to adopt the Advanced Clean Cars and Advanced Clean Trucks rules, which will set annual targets for the sale of new zero emission cars and trucks in New Mexico over time. The rules would require vehicle manufacturers to deliver cleaner vehicles to New Mexicans and drastically cut NO x and particulate matter emissions (PM) from conventional gas and diesel engines.

Nikola reports momentum in Class 8 battery-electric truck sales in Q2

Nikola Corporation announced its quarterly deliveries for its battery-electric truck, with wholesale of 45 trucks (up from 31 in Q1) and retail of 66 trucks (up from 33 in Q1) in Q2 ended 30 June 2023. Production dropped to 33 units in Q2 from 63 in Q1. Nikola said that it is continuing its refocused plan of concentration on the North American market and reducing costs.
