Hyundai said it will showcase its latest gasoline engine, diesel engine, hydrogen fuel cell ( earlier post ) and battery electric technologies in these vehicles. Hyundai currently offers gasoline, diesel, hydrogen and battery-electric vehicles—but not a diesel—in the US.

UK car buyers are turning away from diesel in favor of gasoline models, according to new research by Whatcar.com. Intelligence survey results, which indicate that more than seven in 10 would be likely or very likely to choose a gasoline car, compared with the four in 10 who would consider buying a diesel.

The Volvo Car Corporation is introducing a new, downsized engine range consisting solely of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The upcoming four-cylinder VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) engine range includes common rail diesels and direct injected gasoline engines.

While gasoline costs were the number one reason cited for wanting a more fuel-efficient vehicle (at 90%), more than half of respondents also had other reasons, including a desire to be more environmentally friendly (62%) and concern about the nation’s dependence on foreign oil (56%).
