Rhodium Group estimates US GHG fell 2.1% in 2019, driven by coal decline

This decline was due almost entirely to a drop in coal consumption. Coal-fired power generation fell by a record 18% year-on-year to its lowest level since 1975. An increase in natural gas generation offset some of the climate gains from this coal decline, but overall power sector emissions still decreased by almost 10%.

We will systematically address all parts of the value chain to reduce overall carbon footprint, reduce waste and develop circular solutions. Back then, it was the biggest coal-fired power plant in the Nordic countries.

Seattle City Council passes resolution opposing transportation of coal through Seattle for export, measures for mitigating impact

The Seattle City Council unanimously passed Resolution 31379 stating Seattle’s opposition to the transportation of coal through Seattle. There are currently four coal exports under permit review in the Northwest that collectively could increase US coal exports by 150 million tons of coal annually.

IEA: global CO2 emissions rebounded to their highest level in history in 2021; largely driven by China
