Oberon Fuels, producer of clean-burning dimethyl ether (DME) transportation fuel, has begun production of the first renewable DME (rDME) in the United States, and the only current commercial production of this in the world. Once delivered, rDME can be converted to renewable hydrogen at the point of use.

The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. WM International Engineering L.L.C. Oberon units have the capacity to produce 10,000 gallons of DME per day to service regional fuel markets.
