Before I forget all the stuff I've learned, I'd like to capture some thoughts about the Open-Source kit and my experience with the Belktronix system. Good points about the open-source Civic-Kit: I really appreciate keeping the clutch. It costs a bit more, but allows for variances between Civic models and battery choices.

One was the conversion kit by Hyderabad based e-Trio, and the other was Pune based Northway Motorsports. Basically, electric conversions involve removing the entire internal combustion paraphernalia rom an ICE car, installing an electric motor in its place, and adding a large battery bank. This drives up the cost for the kit provider.

I modified the wiring in the original 914 AC kit (as suggested by Paul Jorg) to turn on the regen when the brake lights came on instead of controlling regen by releasing the accelerator pedal.

This presents the dilemma of running down the 12V battery while the main pack is charging. If the 12V battery is dead, you need a small 12V battery (9V would probably work) to activate the DC-DC converter relay to bootstrap the 12V charging process. Two things have definitely made the car more fun to drive. The batteries are broken in so I have more current to work with and more importantly 2. With the charger plugin at both work and home, the PakTrakr fuel gauge doesn't seem to drop below the 80% mark, so I think the batteries will last a little while. Stay tuned.

Since the positive terminal of the auxiliary battery is tied to the unswitched 12V rail, the negative terminal of the battery is at zero volts. The dangling white and green wire go to the ammeter shunt and the dangling black wire I think is not used in the AC kit. Here's the battery box top sitting in place.
