PACCAR and Aurora partner to develop and commercialize autonomous Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks

PACCAR and Aurora have signed a global, strategic agreement to develop, test and commercialize autonomous Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks. Autonomous Peterbilt 579 Test Vehicle with Aurora Driver. The partnership also includes vehicle validation at the PACCAR Technical Center and production support in PACCAR factories.

Kenworth and Peterbilt first electric Class 8 trucks up Pike’s Peak; fuel cell and BEV

PACCAR announced that a Kenworth T680 fuel cell electric vehicle and a battery electric Peterbilt Model 579EV became the first Class 8 zero emissions vehicles to drive to the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado. We are very excited about the work Kenworth and Peterbilt have done in the development of zero emissions technology.

Cummins and Peterbilt to team up on SuperTruck II

Cummins will partner with Peterbilt Motors Company, a division of PACCAR to develop and demonstrate technologies under the US Department of Energy (DOE) SuperTruck II program. Cummins and Peterbilt teamed together for SuperTruck I, first demonstrating more than 50% BTE and analytically defining technologies needed to achieve 55% BTE.

Meritor collaborating with Peterbilt on all-electric Class 8 trucks; selects UQM as supplier for e-axles

will supply all-electric drivetrain systems for two Peterbilt vehicle platforms through its alliance with TransPower. These include 12 Peterbilt all-electric Class 8 Model 579 day cab tractors and three Model 520 refuse trucks. Funding for the Peterbilt 520 deployment was provided by the California Energy Commission.

Peterbilt increases its natural gas offerings; medium-duty CNG, heavy-duty LNG

Peterbilt Motors introduced two new medium-duty vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) during the Mid-America Trucking Show: the Model 337 and the Model 348. Both vehicles are now in production and can be configured as trucks or tractors. The engine complies with EPA 2010, 2013 and CARB emissions regulations.
