For electric vehicle observers, the legislation contains two key provisions: The first would extend the tax credit to automakers who already reached the current phaseout level of 200,000 EVs sold with another 400,000 vehicles, but with a reduction to $7,000 from the current maximum $7,500 credit.

Nissan announced that US pricing for the updated 2013 Nissan LEAF electric vehicle ( earlier post ) will start at an MSRP of $28,800 for the newly-added entry-level S grade—an 18% reduction from the $35,200 MSRP of the 2012 LEAF entry model, the SV. The 2012 LEAF SL had an MSRP of $37,250. MSRPs of 2012 LEAF and 2013 LEAF.

Which affordable EV regained its EV tax credit eligibility this week? GM confirmed Friday a huge price cut for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV , as it resumed deliveries on the model. With the price cut, the Blazer EV will cost $50,195, or just $42,695 to households who can take advantage of the $7,500 tax credit.

Significant Price Reduction Repositions Entry-Level EV. Chevrolet announced this week that its 2023 Bolt EV and Bolt EUV are going to get major drops in price. The new 2023 pricing (2022 pricing in parenthesis) includes the mandatory $995 destination fee. Same car, less cost. Same car, less cost. But it is more than that.
