The production facility planned for Lake Preston is contemplated to produce about 45,000,000 million gallons per year collectively of jet fuel and renewable gasoline products. The University of Minnesota, Morris, in partnership with Cummins Power Generation and the University of Minnesota Center for Diesel Research, has developed a transportable diesel engine generator (genset) that can be powered by biomass, called the PowerTrainer. The University is demonstrating the unit on 28 June.

Gevo has entered into a long-term agreement to supply its renewable alcohol-to-jet fuel (ATJ) to Avfuel Corporation, effective 1 July 2018. Currently, the Silsbee Facility has the capacity to produce approximately 70,000 gallons of renewable hydrocarbon products per year (50% of which is ATJ and 50% of which is isooctane).

Minnesota’s state Renewable Fuel Standard now requires that diesel fuel contain a 5% blend of biodiesel, up from its previous 2% (B2) requirement. Blends of up to 5% biodiesel (B5) are legally categorized as diesel fuel, eliminating operational or warranty concerns.

With the finalization of this new supply contract, Gevo will initially supply Air Total with ATJ fuel from its demonstration facility in Silsbee, Texas and later from Gevo’s expanded Luverne, Minnesota plant which is expected to be constructed over the next several years. The Silsbee project can produce up to 50,000 gallons of ATJ per year.

California Air Resources Board (ARB) staff has posted five new and one revised Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) fuel pathway applications to the LCFS public comment website. The new pathways include two renewable diesel pathways; two biodiesel pathways, and one corn ethanol pathway. The revised package is for corn oil biodiesel.
