T&E: tests show cars powered by electrofuels emit high levels of criteria pollutants

Green Car Congress

E-fuels are made by combining green hydrogen with CO 2 to produce liquid fuel that can be similar to gasoline or diesel used in conventional engines (as well as kerosene used in aviation). A 10% blend was chosen due to existing fleet and EN228 standard compatibility. The emissions were compared to the standard E10 EU gasoline.

EV Fleets Would Prevent Fuel Contamination

Clean Fleet Report

A Way to Leave Liquid Fuel Troubles Behind Fuel contamination is an invisible yet prominent foe of fossil fuel-powered commercial fleets, and one principal reason to advocate for electrification is eliminating this concern. For example, even though diesel is 35% more efficient than gasoline, water attaches to it more readily than gas.

Small-displacement two-stroke H2 engine could address performance and emissions cost-effectively for recreational market; potential for Asian motor vehicle fleet

Green Car Congress

Comparison of brake thermal efficiency and specific fuel consumption at rated power (ICOMIA Mode 5), hydrogen vs. gasoline engines. The second motivation is a purely pragmatic one, since a modest output powerplant will also have concomitantly modest needs for hydrogen storage to achieve a targeted autonomy. Oh and Plante.

EPA proposes stringent new emissions standards for light-, medium-, heavy-duty vehicles for MY 2027 and beyond

Green Car Congress

The proposal retains the proven regulatory design of previous EPA standards for light-duty vehicles, but leverages advances in clean car technology to further reduce both climate pollution and smog- and soot-forming emissions. Together, the proposals would reduce oil imports by approximately 20 billion barrels.

California ARB approves ACC II rule; 100% of LDVs to be PHEVS, ZEV by 2035; LEV IV emissions requirements

Green Car Congress

The rule establishes a year-by-year roadmap so that by 2035 100% of new cars and light trucks sold in California will be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Plug-in hybrid, full battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles count toward an automaker’s requirement.

MEEF funds 100 Tesla Model 3s for vehicle-as-a-service provider Breathe

Green Car Congress

The funding of this zero-emission private hire fleet follows the successful pay-per-mile funding of taxis that Zeti previously delivered in London using MEEF funds. The Breathe fleet will replace existing gasoline, diesel and hybrid vehicles with Uber which is aiming to be an all-electric platform in London from 2025 onwards.

Insight into benzene formation could help development of cleaner combustion engines

Green Car Congress

For nearly half a century, astrophysicists and organic chemists have been on the hunt for the origins of C 6 H 6 , the benzene ring—an elegant, hexagonal molecule comprising 6 carbon and 6 hydrogen atoms. They believe that the finding could one day lead to cleaner combustion engines.
