Veolia launches largest project to produce bio-methanol from pulp mill waste

Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, and Veolia recently signed a long-term partnership agreement on the refining of crude methanol generated in pulp production at the Äänekoski bioproduct mill into commercial biomethanol. Black liquor is the waste byproduct from the kraft pulping process after pulping is completed.

Volvo Cars switches to biodiesel for ocean freight; cutting fossil CO2 emissions by 84%

The first global car maker to announce such a switch, Volvo calculates it will achieve an immediate reduction in fossil CO 2 emissions from intercontinental ocean freight by 55,000 tonnes over a year.
