A new MG4 hatch-based SUV has been outed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The new compact electric SUV has been created to battle the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Kona Electric and inbound Zeekr X. Named the MG S5 in China, the new small SUV is not thought to be a replacement for the all-new second-gen MG ZS EV , instead it will sit above that car in the Chinese-owned British brand’s line-up.

Recently, an electric Mercedes-Benz caught on fire in an underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Incheon. The blaze dealt severe damage to over 100 vehicles in the parking garage.

Rivian paused production of its Electric Delivery Vans (EDVs) for Amazon last week, due to an undisclosed parts shortage. On Friday, a Rivian spokesperson told Reuters that a shortage of parts caused a temporary pause on EDV production.
