That’s more powerful than any diesel Ranger, and more torque even than the bonkers Ranger Raptor. Should you use up more battery juice than you’d like, sling it into EV Charge and the petrol engine works as a generator to recharge the battery while also turning the wheels. 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV Stormtrak in Iceland.
Understanding Fast Charging Fast charging, or DC fast charging, is a high-power, quick way to add juice to an EV battery. Like Fuel Stations – Like fueling a diesel tractor at a petrol pump, fast charging enables users to charge rapidly and get back on the road.
We end up spending 50 minutes at one to guarantee we’ve enough juice to get us home with no more stops. I’ll be honest, after a busy weekend, I was longing for a petrol or diesel and to be on my way. Range anxiety has set in, and our only public charging options are 50kW “slow” fast chargers. Next time, better planning.
We watch as the diesel trucks and utes refuel and head on their way, as do the family loads of petrol SUVs. After a bit of mucking around the charger fires up I quietly fist pump and it delivers juice to the EV5 at a rate of up to 119kW. But the family in the Polestar 2 who arrives just after us does. What infrastructure shortage?
Researchers at Tsinghua University in China have shown that sugarcane juice is a good feedstock for biodiesel production, when used to support the growth of the alga Chlorella protothecoides by heterotrophic fermentation. Conversion ratios of sugar/biomass and sugar/oil using SCH were 15.2 higher than that using glucose, respectively.
into renewable diesel in a US Department of Energy (DOE) funded biorefinery project. To process the soluble sugars that accumulate in the plants, the sorghum juice was first extracted from the stems and concentrated into sugar syrup by Ceres. Amyris modifies farnesene to become renewable diesel. Source: Amyris. Click to enlarge.
Among the new pathways to be considered is the production of renewable diesel from Australian tallow at Neste Oil’s Singapore plant. g CO 2 e/MJ; for diesel fuel, it is 94.71 Neste Oil renewable diesel: 33.46 produces NExBTL non-ester renewable diesel (RD) from multiple feedstocks at its plant in Singapore. Earlier post.)
Under the agreement, Amyris will construct fermentation and separation capacity to produce Amyris products and Paraíso will supply sugar cane juice and other utilities; Amyris will retain the full economic benefits enabled by the sale of Amyris renewable products over the lower of sugar or ethanol alternatives.
The StreetScooters have a 905 kg payload and an eight-meter cube box, enabling Milk & More to carry 860 pints of milk at a time, as well as an extensive range of locally sourced products from bacon and bread to cereals and juice. Under the agreement with Guarani, a subsidiary of the French sugar group Tereos, the parties will investigate the feasibility of developing an optimal economical model using Amyris technology to produce cane-derived diesel fuel from molasses rather than from traditional sugar cane juice.
Instead of being diesel like virtually all its rivals, the Tank 500 is electrified via a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. The e-motor relies on a 1.76kWh lithium-ion battery for juice. A lifetime of driving big diesels has inculcated a certain expectation of noise, vibration, harshness and – sometimes – obvious lag.
gCO 2 e/MJ for diesel. After the sugarcane has been crushed, the cane juice is filtered, treated with calcium hydroxide, decanted, and then sent to sugar production. The current batch of new applications covers quite a range of carbon intensity in the fuels: from 88.69 gCO 2 e/MJ for the corn ethanol, down to 10.64
As a diesel. Three of them – XLT, Sport and Wildtrak – have diesel equivalents. The PHEVs are all more expensive than their diesel equivalents and the disparity grows the further up the line you go. This is further supported by the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, who has announced his plan to introduce 25,000 ‘juice points’ (charging stations), for electric cars throughout the city. David Martell, Chief Executive, ECC plc, added, “We believe this is the first serious alternative to a petrol or diesel car.
This impressive drop in charging costs reinforces the multitude of reasons to embrace electric over more traditional petrol and diesel vehicles. In direct comparison, filling up the tank of a petrol vehicle to the same level would set you back by an astonishing £46.40 – that’s 13.85p per mile!
Then on the weekend there’s opportunity to load up the family and kit (careful not to exceed that 535kg) and enjoy off-roading with no need for petrol nor diesel. four-cylinder turbo petrol’s backed by an electric motor, delivering 300kW and 750Nm combined if there’s juice in the battery.
Four electric motors power the new 6×6, delivering vastly superior performance, handling, and acceleration than its diesel-powered competition. It can power its water pumps through either battery or auxiliary/grid power, so it will run out of water before running out of juice.
Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. On the last day I knew I would have to get a full charge to make it back to Heathrow and leave it with enough juice for the driver who would collect it. I duly plugged it into an exterior household outlet.

In the automotive industry, the most obvious shift happening right now is from gasoline- and diesel-powered engines to fully electric motors. For example, since they run on gasoline or diesel and there are gas stations virtually everywhere, it’s not really necessary to talk with buyers about where and how they’ll fuel up.
Part of the native Android Automotive operating system available in some EVs, the AI algorithm suggests charging stops along a driver’s route based on their current location, the amount of juice still left in their battery and the type of plug their vehicle uses.
It was only around 15 years ago that EVs could barely travel 50 miles before running out of juice. This is in contrast to petrol and diesel cars, which will have progressively lower resale values as we move towards 2030 when new sales will be banned. No depreciation worries. Higher resale values mean lower monthly payments.
However, making the transition to an EV is a bit more challenging than something like switching from a gasoline to a diesel vehicle. When you switch from gasoline to diesel, everything is basically the same. You are taking a stand against air and noise pollution, and you are conveying your dedication to a greener future.

I can understand the need for maintaining capital cost parity with an equivalent diesel tractor. The Cellestial team thinks that the battery has enough juice to do 1.5 My biggest concern is battery capacity. But I am worried that it will lead to a disappointment in operations. to 3 hours of hard labour.
We did not have the opportunity to assess laden performance or range and a brief 25-minute drive was not long enough to accurately assess how far one of these utes will travel before needing to re-juice – loaded, towing or otherwise. Ford claims a range of 510km, and by all accounts, this is a fairly accurate indication.
Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers. gallon Speculawyer on DOE announces $41.9
For on-the-go juice ups, the idea is to exchange your dead battery for a fresh one owned by Better Place. If I’d have to plan on stopping somewhere for an hour in the middle of a 3 hour drive, just to refuel, I’d feel pretty compelled to stick with a gasoline/diesel vehicle. That’s a deal breaker for me.
A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Hybrids are a proven winner, but a series-hybrid (range extended EV), such as the Volt takes things to a much higher level with existing and "mostly" affordable tech.
So while my car is powering the great city during the day how will I have juice to drive home at the end of the day? Does it, in essence, come down to the fact that V2G takes advantage of battery storage that would exist anyway , as opposed to requiring batteries specifically for the purpose of storing night-time electricity?
