On the market for smaller gensets, we can make a significant difference now bringing down CO 2 emissions and air pollution. The system can be installed as a hybrid solution combined with renewable energy sources such as solar cells or wind turbines. So, this is where we start, one generator at a time.
AqualisBraemar LOC’s scope of work is to design a double-ended sea-going passenger and car ferry capable of utilizing the hydrogen-powered drive-train and thereby running completely emission-free. The ferry will be designed around the requirements of Shapinsay in Orkney where hydrogen fuel is generated through wind power.
Ørsted and Liquid Wind AB have reached an agreement under which Ørsted will acquire a 45% ownership share of Liquid Wind AB’s FlagshipONE e-methanol project. Liquid Wind AB plans to establish a series of facilities across Sweden to decarbonize the maritime sector, of which FlagshipONE will be the first. Earlier post.).
Global wind energy capacity grew by 28.8% GW at the end of 2008, according to the Global Wind Energy Council. More than 27 GW of new wind power generation capacity came online in 2008, 36% more than in 2007. New US wind energy installations totalled 8,358 MW for a total installed capacity of 25,170 MW. billion (US$46.8
When charged with renewable energy, battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) such as IONIQ 5 produce up to 81% lower well-to-wheel lifecycle emissions compared to a normal ICE vehicle, according to a 2021 study from the International Council of Clean Transportation (ICCT).
European Energy (Denmark). European Energy is a global renewable energy company and project developer (wind, solar and Power to X). Maersk intends to offtake the full volume produced on long-term contracts to help its customers realize their own ambitious emission targets. Orsted (Denmark). Green Technology Bank (China).
Relying on a higher share of efficient, low-emission combined cycle power plants and wind energy could save €150 billion (US$200 billion) by 2030 while attaining the same CO 2 targets, Siemens says. The government also is maintaining its target of cutting GHG emissions by 40% by 2020 (compared with 1990 levels) and by 80% by 2050.
Reinforcing the commitment to the FID, Ørsted has taken full ownership of FlagshipONE by acquiring the remaining 55% stake in the project from Liquid Wind AB, the original developer of the project. Visualization of FlagshipONE.
Wind and solar parks produce a large portion of their energy. Then, as now, wind farms are operating off the world’s coasts—but not all of these offshore sites are connected to the mainland via underwater power cables. Some of the wind farms instead sit in clusters more than 100 kilometers out at sea.
We have identified specific areas of priority for the wind sector to effectively deliver the overall objective of cost reductions. Research areas including turbine technology, wind energy integration and offshore deployment will be crucial to maximizing future growth. Professor Petersen.
Preem’s objective is to produce three million cubic meters (793 million gallons US) of renewable fuel yearly by 2030, which would account for the bulk of the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in the Swedish transport sector. Vattenfall can provide hydrogen gas required for the production of drop-in biofuels.
Risø DTU, the National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark - DTU, is heading an effort to transform CO 2 and renewable electricity into synthetic fuels for transportation. The vision is to be able to build small, modular plants, with one standing beside each wind turbine in the local area.
Supportive policies should work to ensure that EV owners are able to capture the full economic value of their decision to fuel switch from electricity to gasoline, including any benefits to the grid operator, and any emission reduction benefits, in addition to realizing the savings from replacing gasoline or diesel fuel with electricity.
Most recently, Toyota announced that its fuel cell sedan would also be available in the UK, USA, Germany and Denmark during the summer of 2015. FCEVs are a real opportunity to offer motoring consumers a zero tailpipe emissions yet practical solution. It’s time to debunk a number of myths.
Their statement suggests using some of the money available from fiscal stimulus packages to invest in activities that can provide jobs as well as create low emission options. They warn against complacency in the UN climate talks, due to conclude in December in Copenhagen to replace the Kyoto Protocol.
Solar, wind, hydro, and other renewable sources are rapidly replacing fossil fuels. The sun doesn’t always shine, and the wind doesn’t always blow. In a grid increasingly powered by fluctuating sources like wind and solar, forecasting accuracy becomes crucial. Schedule backup power from batteries or fossil plants.
The world’s longest land and subsea interconnector – between the UK and Denmark – started commercial operations today. It joins the Bicker Fen substation in Lincolnshire with the Revsing substation in southern Jutland, Denmark. The new Viking Link electricity interconnector has a capacity of 1.4 GW over the coming year.
