PEUGEOT introduces new 48V hybrid technology

Green Car Congress

With a battery that recharges while driving, this technology provides extra torque at low engine speeds and lowers fuel consumption by up to 15% (from 126g of CO 2 /km on 3008 and from 128g of CO 2 /km on 5008). During deceleration, the gasoline engine cuts out and the electric engine becomes a generator to recharge the 48V battery.

JERA and Toyota deploy first large capacity Sweep Energy Storage System with second-life batteries

Green Car Congress

In the future, demand for storage batteries is expected to grow as they become necessary supply-stabilizing tools when expanding renewable energy in the movement toward CO 2 emissions reduction. That contributes to reducing costs and helps avoid power loss when converting from AC to DC by PCS, with the aim of improving effective energy use.

ABB partners with Vigor selects ABB as propulsion and energy storage partner for hybrid-electric ferries

Green Car Congress

Leveraging ABB’s Onboard DC Grid power distribution system and proven drive technology, the new ferry design will optimize energy use, whether drawing on main engine power, battery power or a combination of the two. The battery power can also extend zero-emissions capability along the supply chain by using renewables and hydroelectric power.

Volkswagen bringing 48V MHEV to eight-generation Golf

Green Car Congress

While the Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) charges the battery via the grid with a plug, the MHEV does not have a battery that can be recharged via a plug, but is equipped with a 48V belt starter generator. In deceleration phases, the generator converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy and charges the battery with energy that would otherwise be lost.

Volkswagen’s ID.3 debuts for the European market

Green Car Congress

With its fast charging capability, at a charging output of 100 kW it is possible to recharge the ID.3 The power electronics control the high-voltage energy flow between motor and battery and in this process, the system converts the direct current (DC) stored in the battery to alternating current (AC) for the drive motor.
