Concept of the SOFC emissions control system. Their SOFC system can be operated without consuming the anode fuel (a reductant) at temperatures near that of the engine exhaust to eliminate the need for reductant refilling and extra heating. Therefore, an alternative SOFC operation at the exhaust temperature and open circuit is sought.
