California surpassed 1 million electric vehicles (1,054,095 units)—battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel-cell electric—sold cumulatively through the 4 th quarter of 2021, according to the California Energy Commission (CEC), making it the first US state to achieve this milestone. 11,956 FCEV (1.1%).

Researchers at Argonne National Laboratory, with colleagues from Lawrence Berkeley, Oak Ridge, and National Renewable Energy labs, and the University of Tennessee, have published a comprehensive analysis of the total cost of ownership (TCO) for 12 sizes of vehicles ranging from compact sedans up to Class 8 tractors with sleeper cabs.

Nearly one of every four vehicles sold in Norway in 2016 was a PEV (23.5%), giving the country the highest plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) market penetration of European countries, according to figures from Argonne National Laboratory. For comparison purposes, the United States PEV market penetration in 2016 was 0.9%.
