EU Innovation Fund grants €108M to RWE’s waste-to-hydrogen project FUREC

RWE's FUREC project, which aims to produce circular and green hydrogen from non-recyclable municipal solid waste in Limburg, the Netherlands, received a €108-million grant from the EU’s Innovation Fund. The plant is expected to produce 54,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year. A final investment decision is to be made in 2024.

Haldor Topsoe and Aker Carbon Capture to cooperate on low-carbon hydrogen solutions

Aker Carbon Capture and Haldor Topsoe have signed a memorandum of understanding with the intention to offer a complete solution for low-carbon hydrogen production. Aker Carbon Capture’s proprietary carbon capture process uses a mixture of water and organic amine solvents to absorb the CO 2.

Rosatom and EDF Group partner to develop green hydrogen in Russia and Europe

Russian Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and the EDF Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in March 2021 to develop green hydrogen in Russia and Europe. Hydrogen energy is one of Rosatom’s R&D priorities. Its objective is to develop low-carbon sources of energy, including wind energy.

ArcelorMittal Europe to produce “green steel” starting in 2020

ArcelorMittal inaugurates €200M Steelanol carbon capture and utilization project at Ghent plant
