Stadler wins contracts for up to 120 battery-powered trains, 25 hydrogen trains

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has awarded Stadler a framework agreement for up to 120 battery-powered trains. The signing of the framework agreement and the initial order for 16 FLIRT battery is expected to take place in autumn 2023. The vehicle has an operating range of around 100 kilometers.

Battery-powered Mercedes-Benz eActros approved as truck-trailer combo with total weight of 40 tons

The energy gained when braking is fed back into the batteries of the eActros, and is then once more available for driving. The eActros can be charged with up to 160 kW: Three battery packs require just over an hour to charge from 20 to 80 percent at a standard DC fast charging station generating a charging current of 400 A.

AKASOL to supply battery systems for Alstom’s hydrogen trains

AKASOL will supply battery systems for more than 40 Coradia iLint hydrogen trains ( earlier post ), which have been ordered from Alstom by the Lower Saxony Transit Authority and the Rhine/Main Regional Transport Association. Each Coradia iLint train is equipped with two high-performance battery systems with a total capacity of 220 kWh.
