The City of Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus (BBB) has become one of the country’s first municipal transit authorities to convert its fleet to renewable natural gas (RNG), rated 90% cleaner than diesel. Renewable Methane Gas is processed through a filtration and refining process and transported via pipeline to end users.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has signed two pieces of legislation that promote the use of natural gas, electric or other alternative-fueled vehicles in the Commonwealth. He also signed a new executive order setting out the state alternative fuel plan required by House Bill 2282. HB2105 (Bulova).

Among other enhancements, buses will be equipped with Cummins-Westport Near-Zero engines and fueled by Renewable Natural Gas, to further reduce NO x vehicle emissions by more than 90% by December 2018.
