ABB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hydrogène de France to manufacture jointly megawatt-scale fuel cell systems capable of powering ocean-going vessels (OGVs). Fuel cells are widely considered as one of the most promising solutions for reducing harmful pollutants.

Levels of two major air pollutants have been reduced significantly since lockdowns began in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a secondary pollutant—ground-level ozone—has increased in China, according to new research. Ozone is harmful to humans at ground-level, causing pulmonary and heart disease.

The French Government will reduce the purchase tax incentives for lower carbon cars and increase the penalties for high-pollution vehicles beginning in January. France’s bonus-malus scheme provides financial rewards for those who purchase or lease a new vehicle emitting less CO 2 g/km while taxing more heavily polluting cars.
