Four new corporate partners—Best Buy, Johnson Controls, Pacific Gas and Electric, and Veolia—are joining the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Clean Fleets Partnership, a broad public-private partnership that assists the nation’s largest fleet operators in reducing the amount of gasoline and diesel they use nationwide.

AT&T plans to invest up to $565 million as part of a long-term strategy to deploy more than 15,000 alternative-fuel vehicles over the next 10 years. AT&’s investment represents the largest US corporate commitment to CNG vehicles to date. AT&T expects to replace 7,100 passenger cars over the next 10 years.

Albemarle Corporation has expanded its presence in the biofuels market with the acquisition of Catilin Inc. Albemarle launched its Alternative Fuel Technology (AFT) division in 2007. Earlier post.). Based in Ames, Iowa, Catilin is a developer of heterogeneous biodiesel catalysis. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The biofuel will be produced from used cooking oil by Dynamic Fuels at its Geismar plant and supplied by SkyNRG, the consortium launched by KLM and North Sea Group and Spring Associates in 2009. The plant uses Syntroleum’s Bio-Synfining Technology to produce the renewable fuels from feedstocks produced or procured by Tyson Foods.
