Electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars are now 7.8% of all new car sales in California, and some areas such as Sacramento and San Luis Obispo counties nearly doubled their EV rebates over this past year. Electric vehicle rebates in California were 50% higher in 2018 than 2017.

FreeWire Technologies, a pioneer in flexible mobile power and EV charging technology ( earlier post ), will demonstrate its Mobi Gen and Mobi EV Charger units at DistribuTECH in partnership with Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), the nation’s sixth-largest utility. SMUD is testing the units for deployment within Sacramento.

During 2012, CCSE conducted research to evaluate the current readiness for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) in the Central Valley and San Diego regions and identified areas for improvement. The grant also included support for PEV community readiness reports for Los Angeles, Sacramento, the Bay Area and Central Coast.
