At the Chicago Auto Show, Hyundai introduced its new 2020 Sonata Hybrid, featuring up to 686 miles of driving range and an EPA-estimated 52 mpg combined fuel economy rating on the Blue trim. This is the first time the Sonata Hybrid has been shown in North America. The new Sonata Hybrid goes on sale this spring and is built in Asan, Korea.

Ford will begin installing the GE WattStation Level 2 charging stations across its North American campuses, developing a workplace charging network at nearly every Ford facility in the United States and Canada. It can then use actual station data to plan for additional station installations.

Peugeot is introducing new Euro 6-compliant versions of its three-cylinder PureTech gasoline and four-cylinder BlueHDI diesel engines. Earlier in 2014, the 110 hp (82 kW) and 130 hp (97 kW) turbo engines were added to the PureTech family of next-generation three-cylinder gasoline engines. l/100 km (51 mpg US) and 105 g/km of CO 2.

At the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Annual Merit Review meeting in Washington, DC last week, Michael Ruth from Cummins noted that the DOE program target for the project is a fuel economy (CAFE) target of 26 mpg (9.05 l/100 km), and as such would not meet the GHG requirement of 28 mpg (8.4 Earlier post.). Toyota anticipates that the 2016 Prius ( earlier post ) will deliver fuel economy ratings of 54 MPG city / 50 MPG highway / 52 MPG combined. A new Eco grade model is expecting ratings of 58 MPG city / 53 MPG highway / 56 MPG combined thanks to lighter weight and further optimized aerodynamics.
