BMW i8 beats Mercedes S 500 PHEV, Golf GTE to win World Green Car award in New York

The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) was named the World Green Car at the World Car Awards in New York. The other two short-listed finalists in contention for the award were the Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-In Hybrid and the Volkswagen Golf GTE.
