Moscow’s electric fleet is thus the largest in Europe. For comparison—in October, there were 300 electric buses in London, 259 in Paris, 200 in Berlin and 164 in Amsterdam, according to Mosgortrans, the major bus operator of the city.

London has introduced its 300 th hybrid bus into its fleet; 1,000 hybrid buses are set to be introduced in the next four years as part of the Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s plans to improve air quality. The 300th hybrid bus is now in service on route 211 between Waterloo and Hammersmith.

The first of a planned fleet of eight hydrogen fuel cell buses in London will start operating on 18 December. The buses will form the only hydrogen bus fleet in the UK and the largest currently in Europe. The buses are joining a fleet which also includes 100 hybrid buses.

The Board of Transport for London (TfL) approved a production order for up to 600 of New Bus for London vehicles over the next four years. This will create the largest fleet of hybrid buses in Europe, according to TfL. The introduction of the 600 buses will reduce CO 2 emissions in London by around 20,600 tonnes a year.
