Port of Long Beach increases green ship incentive, exempts low-NOx natural gas trucks from Clean Truck Fund Rate

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners earlier this month approved changes centered around incorporating the international Environmental Ship Index (ESI) into the Port’s Green Ship Incentive Program, which began in 2012. Zero-emissions trucks had already been determined to be exempt from the future rate.

BNSF to build $1.5B integrated rail complex in Barstow to increase supply chain efficiency nationwide

The Barstow International Gateway will be an approximately 4,500-acre new integrated rail facility on the west side of Barstow, consisting of a rail yard, intermodal facility and warehouses for transloading freight from international containers to domestic containers. BNSF Railway plans to invest more than $1.5 BNSF in California.

Matson takes delivery of first dual-fuel Kanaloa-Class con-ro vessel Lurline

It is also one of Matson’s fastest vessels, with a top speed of 23 knots, helping ensure on-time deliveries in Hawaii from Matson’s three West Coast terminals in Seattle, Oakland and Long Beach. Clean Energy Fuels delivered 143M gallons of Redeem renewable natural gas in 2019, up 30% year-on-year

The environmental impact of replacing 143 million gallons of diesel fuel with RNG is the equivalent of reducing 745,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions—also equal to planting 12 million trees, or removing 158,000 cars off the road, or reducing 260,000 tons of waste that would otherwise be sent to the landfill, the company said.
