Ecotricity has opened new charging points on the M4 and M42 highways in the UK as part of the first national charging network, linking Birmingham and Bristol to London. The Electric Highway now has charging points at Welcome Break services on the M25/M1, M40, M4 and M5. South Mimms services (M25 and M1 junction).

London has launched the Source London scheme that adds 150 charging points to the city, bringing its total to around 400. no more than one mile from every Londoner. Ultimately, the plan is to have 1,300 points by 2013—i.e.,
