He's a bit surprised, as are all of us, that Nissan has emerged as the first big automaker to manufacture a mass-produced electric car. The LEAF pack has fewer kWh than my RAV4 EV, but could be almost as heavy. I don't doubt that this is true.

I’m kind of excited to see this car, having tested the drivetrain in the Nissan Cube. Since the Cube is 200 lbs heavier than the final body of the EV, it should be a bit quicker still. The gamble is that Nissan could grab the EV market and dominate it until BYD (China) enters the U.S., Of this I am certain.
