MAN supplying mixed medium- and high-speed engines for hybrid foundation/wind turbine installation vessels

MAN Energy Solutions has won a fourth order to supply engines to Chinese shipbuilder, COSCO Heavy Industries, in Qidong for the construction of a second F-Class installation vessel used for the installation of offshore wind turbines and foundations. The four vessels are scheduled for delivery from 2024 through 2026.

Wärtsilä and Eidesvik Offshore to partner on converting ship to ammonia-fueled engine

The technology group Wärtsilä and Norwegian ship owner Eidesvik Offshore ASA have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at converting an offshore supply vessel (OSV) to operate with an ammonia-fueled combustion engine with required fuel supply and safety system. The installation is scheduled to take place in late 2023.

Wärtsilä to convert some Stena Line ferries to methanol fuel

Technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted by Swedish ferry operator Stena Line to carry out and convert some of its vessels to operate with methanol fuel. The conversions will include the fuel supply system and engine modifications, as well as integrating the new installations with the ships’ existing systems.

Wärtsilä hits methanol milestone with first newbuild engine order

The technology group Wärtsilä has received its first order for newbuild methanol-fueled engines. A new Offshore Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) being built for Dutch contracting company Van Oord at Yantai CIMC Raffles shipyard in China will be powered by five Wärtsilä 32 engines capable of operating with methanol.
