In a further extension of Ricard’s collaboration with the Lifan Automobile Group based in Chongqing, China, the company will assist in the development of a new turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine. With work on the project starting in July, the first engines are due for production in late 2014.

The upcoming four-cylinder VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) engine range includes common rail diesels and direct injected gasoline engines. It’s time to stop counting cylinders.
