Chicago Transit Authority orders 20 Proterra electric buses for $32M

The Chicago Transit Board awarded a $32-million contract to Proterra for the purchase of 20 new, all-electric buses. The new electric buses will give the CTA one of the largest electric bus fleets in the country. CTA will monitor the performance of the new buses, using the information to guide future modernization of its bus fleet.

Smith Electric Vehicles to open manufacturing facility in Chicago

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Smith Electric Vehicles announced that Smith will open an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Chicago. Chicago will be Smith’s third location in the United States, joining the headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and a manufacturing facility in New York City.

Chicago awards $13.4M contract to Motiv Power Systems for 20 Class 8 electric refuse trucks

TransLink buys 15 electric Nova Bus LFSe+; Chicago CTA approves buying 600 diesel Nova Bus LFS

FedEx Express doubles and diversifies all-electric fleet with 24 new units; adding more than 4,000 new, fuel-efficient vehicles in total

ComEd to replace all LDVs in fleet with electrified vehicles by 2030

ComEd’s new fleet electrification plan calls for replacing all of its light duty vehicles with electrified vehicles (EVs and PHEVs) by 2030. ComEd’s current fleet of 3,000 vehicles includes 1,400 biodiesel-fueled line trucks and another 430 units that are capable of running on high-level ethanol-gasoline blends, or E85.
