Pierburg GmbH electric compressor for turbos

Green Car Congress

Pierburg GmbH, part of the KSPG Group, has developed an electric compressor for spontaneously boosting the charge pressure of engines fitted with an exhaust-gas turbocharger. This component allows pressure to be increased regardless of the exhaust-gas energy availability.

Report: Mercedes pulls the plug on range-extended EV possibilities

Baua Electric

This engine reportedly acted purely as a generator, supplying power to an electric motor rather than directly driving the wheels. Propulsion was reportedly provided by a 268-hp rear-mounted electric motor, drawing power from a lithium-ion battery pack roughly half the size of a production EQS pack. But in 2021 it aborted that plan.

Simulation study suggests ORC waste heat recovery system could deliver potential 7% improvement in fuel consumption in a PHEV on highway

Green Car Congress

Starting from a energy-based powertrain simulation model validated on experimental data from the PHEV, the researchers conducted a first- and second-law analysis to identify the potential for engine waste heat recovery, considering a variety of driving cycles and assuming the vehicle operating in charge-sustaining (HEV) mode.

CPT developing 48-volt electric supercharger for micro-mild hybrids

Green Car Congress

Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) is developing a 48-volt version of its 12 volt electric supercharger based on its variable torque enhancement system known as VTES. At 48 volts, a VTES electric supercharger will transform 7kW of battery power into a highly boosted charge of air for downsized gasoline and diesel engines.
