Also, keep in mind that low rpm torque isn't the aim when going electric, that uses a lot of battery capacity, so you are looking at spinning the electric motor fairly fast to get that rock crawling ability, and that requires higher battery voltage. Any ideas where to purchase electric components and labor guide ?
We decided to build a 3rd generation battery pack for our Tesla Cobra EV road race car. To keep it cool, we had to resort to building custom cooling plates between every cell. Model 3 Battery Pack for Tesla Cobra EV Our 1st pack was from a 2015 Kia Soul EV. We replaced it with 2/3 of a Chevrolet Bolt pack.

Hello, I've wanted to get into building an EV for a long time, but it seems expensive and daunting. I've had the "Build Your Own Electric Vehicle, Second Edition" book for years. Now it seems outdated. (1) 1) The latest consensus seems to be to use a Leaf donor and control it with a VCU. (2) Now it seems outdated. (1)

At the time, e-bikes were still rather exotic, at least in the United States, so it seemed worth the expense and effort to build my own. The third essential element of any e-bike is, of course, the battery. In 2009, I wrote in these pages about my efforts to. Fast forward a dozen years. E-bike availability and ridership have exploded.

So I decided to build a new workbench. I decided on building a 213-by-107-cm bench. I added a DIY solder squid—a block with four flexible arms that I use to hold components in place while soldering—with a concrete base and an automatic solder fume extractor. A bench that could automatically assist me in getting things done!
Cost & Scalability Even if you nail the engineering, building multiple high-precision motors for each wheel gets extremely expensive. looking for inwheel hub motors Jump to Latest 2.8K Why It Matters: A choppy ride and subpar handling can undermine the very point (performance gains) that in-wheel motors is supposed to offer.
So, I set about building an open-source ice tracker from DIY components that not only proved to be much, much cheaper but also much more capable than the commercial options. The v2021 version can be powered on two nonrechargeable LSH20 D-cell lithium batteries , which work well even at extremely low temperatures.

The notion of being led to a hidden object by virtue of the magnetic anomaly it creates must have really intrigued my 9-year-old self, because a decade after seeing that movie I decided to build a circuit to measure the strength of Earth’s magnetic field. Power comes from an external USB battery.
The Zilla Z1K-HV motor controller kit is perfect for high performance DC powered EV builds. The Z1K-HV can regulate up to 1000 Amps of motor current and runs on lead acid battery packs of 72 to 300 volts nominal. This kit includes the following: Z1K-HV 1000a, 72-300VDC RevZ1470 Motor Controller. HB2-614 Hairball 2 Zilla Interface.
Oliver Keller at CERN’s S’Cool Lab has created a DIY particle detector that relies on inexpensive silicon photodiodes to detect alpha and beta particles (helium nuclei and free electrons whizzing through the air, respectively) and estimate their energy. In addition, the design requires its own power source, in the form of a 9-volt battery.
Posting my progress to put a EM57 leaf motor and pdm and 24 amp hr battery w/ bms into a 1980 rear wheel Toyota truck using Resolve controller and BRAT motor coupler
The answer is yes—and it's one you can build yourself with parts any maker can easily obtain. With all of this data we looked at building a fundamental relationship between the movement of the body (and thus the activity of the muscles burning calories) and the actual energy expended by the whole body. James Provost.
Without any prefab kits, he swapped in the Bolts drivetrain, battery pack, and electronics, fabricating custom mounts, axles and 3D-printed interior components to make it all work. What makes Carlsons build stand out isnt just the hardware its the engineering ethos behind it. The result? His next challenge?

Now, after countless versions of wiring things together, and even designing my own audio mixers, I finally have a DIY solution that works within a reasonable budget. This became more pronounced when the batteries were getting low, and if I turned off the ESP32’s Bluetooth, some of the noise would go away.
I have posted here before with a different VW kit car build which was a 72v Wilderness EV kit in a Bentley kit body roadster. At that time I was using Trojan 12v LA batteries. Pretty straight forward and easy build. Considering a VW Kit Car Build.
It's a MK2 golf with 9'' ADC motor fitted, battery tray up front and one sunk into the rear where the fuel tank was. The lights, etc run from a dedicated 12V battery (missing) and all the wiring is there so it should just be a matter of sticking the battery in. I intend to use a Open Revolt and battery pack of 120V 100/110 Ah.I

First, I have a full pack of Nissan Leaf batteries. I have found some pieces I want to use, or am thinking of using and electrical has never been my strong suit. I am definitely a hands on, mechanical kind of guy. 48 modules, each module is about 7-7.4 I was planning to run 5 modules in parallel and make 10 packs.
With one of these, I could build my own clock for around US $200—and one that’s about 200 times as accurate as a typical quartz clock. A battery backup connected to this port is needed to prevent resets due to power loss—using one of the popular coin-cell-based real-time backup clocks would be pointless due to their relative inaccuracy.

Building off the demand stimulated by this activity, a number of manufacturers have started making premium, but still relatively cheap, SDRs. Both the KrakenRF SDR and the Raspberry Pi 4 [middle bottom] require a fair amount of power via USB C cables, so a battery pack [top middle] is needed for mobile operation. James Provost.
Tucking into a DIY job out in the garage can be both a good and bad thing – it only takes one snapped bolt to turn a 30-minute job into a three-day ordeal. Electric ratchets have become a great deal more common in DIY toolboxes over the last few years, thanks in no small part to huge advancements in battery technology.
Last year I saw on a Dutch Fiat Panda forum a person that converted an original fiat panda elettra to a LiFePO4 battery ten years ago.
