ORNL researchers use stop-light cameras to reduce fuel consumption of less-efficient vehicles via traffic management

Approximately 6 billion gallons of fuel are wasted in the US each year as vehicles wait at stop lights or sit in dense traffic with engines idling, according to US Department of Energy estimates. The team’s first step in February 2018 was to use GRIDSMART cameras to create an image dataset of vehicle classes.

SGH2 building largest green hydrogen production facility in California; gasification of waste into H2

The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. Obama Administration announces first fuel economy and GHG standards for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles
