Researchers from Stanford University have designed a charging system that some day could allow electric cars to charge their batteries as they travel along the road. Such as system could theoretically give a car infinite range and dispense with the need to leave an EV standing for hours to recharge.

Leading carmakers and energy companies have reached an agreement on a common ‘plug’ to recharge electric cars, according to the German publication Die Welt. The new three point, 400-volt plug which would allow for electric cars to be charged in minutes, was unveiled at technology fair in Hanover today.
