A team of researchers in China suggest that, in the context of promoting the use of clean fuel vehicles and increasing vehicle fuel efficiency, CO 2 emissions of China’s urban passenger transport sector could reach a peak of 225 MtCO 2 in 2030. A paper on their study appears in the journal Energy Policy.

Steam is adopted as a sweep gas, presenting efficient H 2 recovery (>91%) while replacing conventionally utilized noble carrier gases that require additional gas separation processes. Hydrogen gas, however, cannot be transported in large amounts due to the limitations in the amount that can be stored per unit volume.

New York City is adding 70 electric vehicles to its fleet: 50 new Chevrolet Volts, 10 fully electric Ford Transit Connect cargo vans, and 10 new fully electric Navistar E-star utility trucks. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Smith Electric Vehicles announced that Smith will open an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Chicago. The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced a $15-million incentive program that will encourage companies and individuals to modernize their fleets and convert to electric vehicles.
