Lightning Systems, a global developer of zero-emissions drivetrains for commercial fleets, has had its longer-range, higher-speed, Generation 2 model of its Lightning Electric system for the Ford Transit ( earlier post ) named in an Executive Order from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The new vehicle also is available nationwide.

Electric vehicle controller specialist Sevcon has won a contract to supply drivetrain control technology for a new range of utility and all-terrain vehicles being manufactured in China. The new vehicle, which will have a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph) and a range of up to 80km (50 miles),was recently launched at the EICMA show in Milan.

No decision has been made whether the car will be offered for sale in the US, according to the report. Featuring a 22 kWh Li-ion pack and a 30 kW, 100 N·m drive motor, the Micro-Vett electric 500 has a range of 145 km (90 miles) and a top speed of 114 km/h (71 mph). The amended bill, now called the “American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012” and next to be considered by the House, contains 12 extensions outlined in Title IV of the bill, ranging from extension of production credits for Indian coal facilities to benefits for alternative fuels (including algal biofuels) and plug-in vehicles.

There are a few useful specs detailed on the product page though, such as the top speed being listed as 40 km/h (25 mph) and the battery as 60V. It’s nice to see that the little truck is even available in a wide range of colors, allowing you to customize it to your own personality. I’d advise a bit of caution there though.
