The 2018 Honda Clarity Electric car rolled into California and Oregon dealerships this week, but nobody can buy it. That figure reflects the $7,500 federal tax credit, which Honda finance will keep as part of the capitalized cost reduction of the lease.

As such, I think without significant price discounts (all of the other EVs also have access to the Federal tax credit except the Tesla), the two Bolt models will never see sales in the US above around 35,000 per year (if that even). Bloomberg New Energy Finance estimates battery cost will decline by almost 10% until 2025, when ZEVs will reach price parity with ICE vehicles. Honda is working on high-capacity batteries capable of 15-minute charging with a 240 km range for release in 2022 models. Performance: Battery range has been increasing annually.
