UPS adding 200 more series hybrid delivery trucks

UPS will add 200 new series hybrid electric delivery trucks to the company’s growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. The vehicles have the same 650cc 2-cylinder engine and E-GEN chassis as the 125 vehicles UPS announced earlier this year. ( Earlier post.). Equipped with lithium ion batteries and a range-extender engine, these trucks will deliver significant fuel economy equivalency gains, approximately four times the fuel economy of a gasoline powered vehicle.

German upper house asks EU to ban all gas, diesel cars by 2030

According to data from the US Bureau of the Census compiled by the US Department of Energy (DOE), the percentage of those in the US driving to work alone has increased in each decade from 1980 to 2014. Conversely, carpooling decreased in that same time frame. In 2014, 76.4% of all commuters drove alone in a private vehicle. In 2014, 9.6% of workers carpooled, down from 19.7% in 1980.
