UPS will add 200 new series hybrid electric delivery trucks to the company’s growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. The vehicles have the same 650cc 2-cylinder engine and E-GEN chassis as the 125 vehicles UPS announced earlier this year. ( Earlier post.). According to data from the US Bureau of the Census compiled by the US Department of Energy (DOE), the percentage of those in the US driving to work alone has increased in each decade from 1980 to 2014. Conversely, carpooling decreased in that same time frame. In 2014, 76.4% of all commuters drove alone in a private vehicle. In 2014, 9.6% of workers carpooled, down from 19.7% in 1980.

Semiconductor company Infineon has acquired 100% of Innoluce BV, a fabless semiconductor company headquartered in Nijmegen.
