However, Porsche Chief Financial Officer Lutz Meschke was quoted by Automotive News on Thursday casting some doubts.& Despite Europe having adopted battery electric vehicles far more quickly than North America, the market is still confronting a lot of the same problems. We should probably take Porsche’s comments seriously.

The hybrid is equipped with a flywheel energy recovery system (KERS) developed by Williams Hybrid Power initially for use in Formula One racing.

Williams F1 has acquired a majority shareholding in Williams Hybrid Power (WHP), increasing its existing 40% stake in the company to 78%. In 2009 WHP re-focused its development efforts to road vehicle applications of the technology and has recently partnered with Porsche AG to run the system in the manufacturer’s new Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid.
