NHTSA 2020 update on AEB installation by 20 automakers finds rapid progress

The US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the progress of 20 automakers toward manufacturing passenger vehicles with low-speed automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems. There are about 5 million more vehicles manufactured a year with AEB than when this effort started.

DOE: US Light-duty electric vehicle miles traveled reached 13.7 billion miles in 2020

The number of electric vehicle miles traveled (eVMT) has been increasing each year since the introduction of the first mass market plug-in vehicles in late 2010. Beginning in 2014, annual all-electric vehicle eVMT has exceeded that of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the US, reaching a new high of nearly 10 billion miles in 2020.

Montréal installing 50 more on-street charging points for EVs; targeting 1,000 by 2020

The city of Montréal is installing 50 more on-street charging points for electric vehicles. In August, the city installed 50 in the downtown area. The city said it plans to have 1,000 stations installed across all boroughs by 2020. The 100 terminals will now cover 7 city districts.

NREL report shows EV charging stations continued strong growth in early 2020

Tesla recalling 119K Model S MY 2014-2021, 356K Model 3 MY 2017-2020 EVs

Tesla is recalling some 475,000 of its vehicles to address defects in design/assembly. The largest recall is for all Model Year 2017 to 2020 Model 3 vehicles—potentially 356,309 units. Tesla Service will inspect the trunk harness on affected vehicles for wear. MY 2021 Model 3 vehicles use a different harness design.
