One direct fuel cell system will be located in Bridgeport, Connecticut as part of a distributed renewable power generation project that also includes a solar array. FuelCell Energy, Inc. has received a contract for two 2.8 megawatt DFC3000 fuel cell power plants from United Illuminating (UI), part of UIL Holdings Corporation.

Chevrolet Volts have been delivered to customers in the Washington DC area, as well as California, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Texas. Chevrolet is stepping up the national rollout of the Volt, and plans to have Volts in all participating dealerships in every state by the end of this year.

Chevrolet plans to produce 10,000 Volt extended range electric vehicles by the end of the 2011 calendar year, and an additional 30,000 Volts during the 2012 calendar year, according to Volt Marketing Director Tony DiSalle, who made the announcements during a live video webcast 1 July. Thanks to Hurricane Earl's impending arrival on the East Coast, we had to cut our 2011 Ford Fiesta World Tour a day short. Our final day began in Boston, and we spent the morning driving south to New York City by way of Connecticut.

Chevrolet dealerships in the initial launch markets of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, DC will be receiving dedicated Volt demonstration vehicles for customer test drives over the next few weeks. Chevy expects to deliver Volts in all 50 states by the end of 2011.

The EPA had failed to meet an October 2011 deadline for revising the existing standards. Led by the State of New York, the coalition also includes California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.
