ASTM approves 7th annex to D7566 sustainable jet fuel specification: HC-HEFA

The standard provides that HC-HEFA-SPK fuel, the development of which was led by IHI Corporation, may be blended at up to 10% by volume with conventional jet fuel. Botryococcus features an exceptionally high growth rate and high hydrocarbon oil content; IHI’s fuel is based on the hydroprocessing of oil from Botryococcus braunii (Bb oil).

Ford cuts manufacturing energy use 22% in 6 years; targeting additional 25% Drop by 2016

Novozymes, COFCO and Sinopec to Partner on Cellulosic Ethanol from Corn Stover in China

Novozymes and its Chinese partner COFCO have entered a new partnership with major Chinese oil and energy company Sinopec to develop a commercial-scale process for producing cellulosic bioethanol from corn stover. Sinopec is the world’s third-largest oil refiner. China is the second-largest corn producer in the world, behind the US.
