This initiative follows a 2008 incentive program that put into service more than 2,200 trucks that currently meet or exceed 2007 US EPA emission standards. Since the launch of the Clean Truck Program on 1 October 2008, pollution at the Los Angeles-Long Beach port complex has been reduced by more than 23%, according to the Commission.

The statute passed by Congress in 2007 states that fuels can’t be approved for the market that could cause any failures. Yet, E-15 has been shown to adversely affect engines in non-road products and later model year vehicles, cause emission failures and increase air pollution due to misfueling, the group says.
