In Stockholm, Volvo Cars unveiled its new fully electric flagship SUV, the 7-seat EX90. Starting with the Volvo EX90, Volvo Cars will reveal one new fully electric car each year. The Volvo EX90 will be built in the US starting next year and later also in China.

Volvo Cars revealed its first premium small SUV, the all-electric EX30, in an event in Milan, Italy. The EX30 expands Volvo’s all-electric offering to four models. The Volvo EX30 is available for order across Europe and other selected markets.

Volvo Cars formally inaugurated a new battery assembly line at its Belgian manufacturing plant in Ghent, where it will start building its first fully electric car, the XC40 Recharge P8, later this year. Volvo XC40 Recharge powertrain. The XC40 Recharge P8 is the first of a family of fully electric Volvos.

Volvo discontinued the XC70 after the 2016 model year, ending a long run for the beefy off-road-oriented wagon. If Volvo revives the XC70, it will likely arrive in China as yet another electrified SUV. Volvo teased the new SUV with a few artfully-shaded images, but the overall design is pretty easy to see.

Volvo Cars reported global sales of 51,286 cars in February, up 22% compared to the same month last year and a record for the month of February. Sales of Volvo Cars’ Recharge models made up 40% of all Volvo cars sold globally during the month. In February 2022, the share of all-electrics was only 8% (3,338 units out of 42,067).
