2019 Prius offered with new electric all-wheel drive system

Toyota is offering a new electric all-wheel drive system (AWD-e) on the facelifted 2019 Prius. Toyota projects fuel economy of 52 mpg city / 48 mpg highway / 50 mpg combined for the AWD-e model, and estimates that the AWD-e model—which is debuting at the LA Auto Show—could account for as much as 25% of annual US Prius sales.

Ford C-MAX Hybrid posts 3,182 units in first full month of sales, outpacing Prius v

Ford’s new C-MAX Hybrid ( earlier post ) sold 3,182 units in October in its first full month of sales, outselling the Prius v’s 2,769 units. Sales of the entire Prius family were 16,774 units, with the sedan accounting for 8,788 of those.) Ford sales of Focus, C-MAX and Fiesta were up 54% to 25,493 units year over year.

Volt top-selling plug-in vehicle in US in May, followed by Prius PHV

Year-to-date sales for the Volt have risen to 7,057 units, compared to 2,184 units for the same period last year. The Prius PHV plug-in hybrid followed, with 1,086 units sold, representing 5.1% of the 21,477 units of the full Prius family sold in May. of the combined sales of GM, Toyota and Nissan.

University College Dublin Study finds Prius IV hybrids drive >60% of the time in zero-emissions mode under Irish conditions

A new study carried out by University College Dublin (UCD) academics has found that under typical Irish commuting conditions, the Toyota Prius IV (fourth-generation) hybrid ( earlier post ) drives in zero emissions mode (ZEV) for significantly more than half (62%) of the time and more than 40% (40.4%) of the distance covered.

For the full year, TMS reported annual sales of 1,763,595 vehicles, essentially flat (down 0.4%) from the same period in 2009 on an unadjusted raw volume basis.
