Kenworth and Peterbilt first electric Class 8 trucks up Pike’s Peak; fuel cell and BEV

PACCAR announced that a Kenworth T680 fuel cell electric vehicle and a battery electric Peterbilt Model 579EV became the first Class 8 zero emissions vehicles to drive to the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado. We are very excited about the work Kenworth and Peterbilt have done in the development of zero emissions technology.

At the Mid-America Trucking show, PACCAR companies Kenworth and Peterbilt introduced more fuel efficient version of their heavy-duty models: the Kenworth T680 Advantage and the Peterbilt Model 579 with EPIQ package. Kenworth says that the T680 Advantage can deliver up to a 5% fuel efficiency enhancement over a standard T680.

Vedder Transport orders 50 Peterbilt LNG trucks powered by Westport HD systems

of Abbotsford, British Columbia has issued a purchase order for 50 Peterbilt 386 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks featuring Westport HD Systems. In addition, Terasen Gas, through its Energy Efficiency and Conservation program, will offset the incremental cost of using LNG-powered trucks rather than their traditional diesel counterparts.
