PECO is expanding its fleet with new natural gas and hybrid electric models. The utility is participating in a national consortium that recently was awarded a federal stimulus grant to purchase plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and the company is buying more trucks to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) as well.

Outspoken electric vehicle makers Tesla and Polestar have reacted strongly to a newspaper report forecasting a Dutton Coalition federal government would water down penalty provisions in Australias new CO2 reduction scheme. I think removing those penalties removes any stimulus for legacy auto makers to improve CO2 emissions, he said.
