An influx of used EVs is causing prices to drop, particularly when it comes to used Teslas, according to new data from Recurrent. The company, which sells battery health reports for used EVs, also compiles quarterly reports on used EV prices using data from partner firm Marketcheck. This latest report also includes wholesale data from BlackBook.

Lexus used the 2023 Tokyo auto show to unveil a concept previewing its upcoming EV flagship. Called the Lexus LF-ZL (for "Lexus Future Zero-emission Luxury"), the concept is an SUV measuring 208.6 inches long—about eight inches longer than the current LX SUV and two inches longer than the LS flagship sedan—and based on a dedicated EV.

Tesla has sold $100M in Supercharger hardware units to oil giant bp, the company announced this morning, as it attempts to bolster its EV charging infrastructure. Tesla Superchargers will be installed at various locations in the bp pulse network, which are located at bp Amoco, and Thortons-branded sites, TravelCenters of America locations, and at bp pulse’s large-scale Gigahub charging sites, near airports and major metropolitan areas across the United States.

Tesla’s price cuts throughout the third quarter provided challenges for rental company Hertz ( NASDAQ: HTZ ), who adopted the electric automaker’s vehicles in 2021 for its fleet. The swings in pricing hindered Hertz’s Q3 earnings report, as it missed profit estimates. Hertz said it would slow down EV adoption while it learns to manage costs, CEO Stephen Scherr said on Thursday, according to Bloomberg.

On Thursday, Toyota Motor Corp. confirmed plans to recall the Highlander SUVs over an issue that could cause the front bumper to loosen. The vast majority of the impacted models are parked inside the United States with additional recalls planned for Canada and Mexico. The manufacturer stated that the recall only affects 2020-2023 model year Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles — adding that it estimates there are about 751,000 units that need to be dealt with in the U.S.

Striking Ford employees are heading back to the assembly line today after the United Auto Workers (UAW) union reached a tentative labor deal with the company late on Wednesday. Whilst we don’t generally run news of this sort, it is worth noting that this month represents a full two decades since Toyota put shovels in the ground to build what would become their San Antonio truck plant, a spot which currently cranks out Tundra and Sequoia machines.
